I used DVD shrink to rip and compress Catch Me if You Can, then used Easy CD Creator DVD Version to make the image file, then tried to burn the image to DVD, but when I play it in my standalone DVD player it gives me a disk error unable to read disk. The thing that gets me is that the standalone will start playing it then tells me that error. I was going to use NERO but my free trial has expired. Is there any other software thats free to do the burning? Also, i usually use DVD Xcopy Xpress, but it constantly comes up with errors with this movie. The disc isn't scratched though. Could there be some kind of copy protection on it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

burn at once is free and there is a link at dvdshrink.info. You could get a trial of recordnow max (which I use at) which is linked at oriphus' site. However if you shelled out for xcopy xpress, the cost of recordnow or Nero is much less. (I found recordnow via the internet for $29)

Thanks for the info. I don't really want to spend any money on burning software, that I'll only use a few times (assuming Xpress will continue to work on most of my DVDs, I've backed up about 20 with it). So I'll check out some of the free software. Again thanks.

If you want something free, download ImgTool Classic and DVD Decryptor. Once you have your DVD files use ImgTool to create the image and DVD Decryptor to burn. Before I got RecordNow Max I used this method and never had any problems.

im not sure you can rip the files and then make an image that will work. You will be missing dvd specific information needed by the player.
