Magnavox mvr810H recording problems

This hd dvd is driving me mad at the moment. I've set up 5 timed recordings the red light comes one to say it is recording but they're not being stored on the hd. However, when I just press record with channel on screen it does record and store

Have deleated the timed recordings, have changed the clock from automatic to manual.

Have searched the web for info on this model - and there seems to be very little available on it.

Would really appreciate any advice offered!
