VLC stopped playing .MKV

Hello around 3 days ago my VLC player stopped playing .mkv files. I dont know what happened, because ive always used VLC to play my .mkv files. Heres a pic of how it looks like, it seems like its going to start, but it never does. Please any help?

If it was coincident with the installation of some new software you could try a system restore to that point or just uninstall and re-install VLC.
