K so I got a Wii about 1 1/2 months ago. I know that Nintendo released new Wii's that make it so that the Wiikey cannot be installed on it. I was just wondering, how do I know which one I have? I know i have to open it up and check, but what am I looking for/does anyone have pics or anything?

ok, u need to check what firmware u have first. i am stil an ametueur at this sort of thing. but i dont recommend u doing it alone. u should take it to a professional dealer and have them do it for u. i know it sounds a bit pricy but it is better than beating the heck of bricking ur wii. good luck to u...

Look at your serial number on your wii...It should be like LU3...after the three there are 2 numbers...mine is 10....if yours is 15 or higher it has the cut pins.

If the chipset is D2C then you will not be able to Mod your Wii.

If the chipset says D2B then you can Mod it. You might have to do a little modification to the chipset if the 3 pins have been cut.
