I need to fit the (first 4) harry potter films onto 2 dvd's.
the thing is, is that the each film is 1350mb in size and about 2.5 hours long.
when i use ConvertXtoDVD just one film takes 3.2gb.
Does anybody know a way to shrink the files or even get it to fit to a dvd5?

Use ConvertX on your movies and save to individual folders
Run DVD Shrink

http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/
Download, install and run.

Select 'Re-Author', locate the first folder and drag 'Title 1' to the left window.
Repeat for subsequent folders.
Click 'Backup'
Be warned that all that running time is not intended for one DVD-5.
Quality will suffer.

You might get more help in the 'DVD Shrink' or 'DVD Rebuilder' areas at Afterdawn.
Possibly using the newer dual layer disks (DVD-9)- of course they also need a dual layer burner.

As attar mentioned, you could use DVD Shrink (to join the movies with no compression) and DVD-RB to compress at the highest possible quality. You'd also want to have DVD-RB resize to Half D1 because otherwise it will look like complete crap. Even at Half D1 you'd be pushing it, but with a halfway decent bitrate the quality loss should be minimal when viewing on a reasonably small (like 30" or smaller) standard def tv.
