do i need the playback kit to watch DVD's with my softmodded xbox?

edit:: i found DVDX V2.0
does this play dvd backups on dvd-r's?

Obviously the answer you found was 'No'...

Anyway, get one! If you start to really use XBMC, the advantages of having one, well outweigh the cost of buying one. Just get a copy, they are dirt cheap!
