Hi, I've just installed my wiikey into my console and when i put in the bootup disc its showing a error read. Now, I understand that the clones have to be booted up with the bootup disc, but if I purchased this chip from consolesource.com than I won't need the bootup disc right? I dont understand why its not working with the dvd-r. Any thoughts?
ok so i just installed the wiikey today on my very own wii. first off, check if all your connections are right and that you installed it correctly as well. now that you have, the bootup disk should be the same size as an original wii game, so 4.37 gigs. i didnt need to burn the startup disk for me to play, but ive read that some had to.
also, if you bought a chip from consolesource.com, it doesnt mean that you dont have to. did you buy a clone or and original?
Thanks for the feedback. Luckly I searched a little harder in some of the Afterdawn.com forums, I found out that if you are using 30 awg wire setup, make them as short as possible. The points are actually soldered on correctly, somehow?! Well, it was a successful installation and thanks to all the knowledgeable members of Afterdawn.com. I am glad to have found a useful website.
Thanks again

I do have one more problem, everytime when I try to play a homebrew. The wii sometimes won't read it, for example, I was trying to play spiderman 3 last night and it was giving me and error. At that point I thought that I had burn an error copy, but when I had put in a recently played homebrew, it gave me the same problem. Now all of it is like this. Feel free to respond with resourceful information. :)
yeah actually, i get that somtimes, the cannot read disc crap. i think it has something to do with the mod chip. it has happen to me on several occasions now. as far as i can tell, its the mod chip
Yeah, I went ahead and took apart my wii again. By now I have become very proficient at disassembling my wii, I found out that one of the points was not properly solder on, so I had to desolder and resolder the chip back on. Except this time the original solder point on the wii drive came off! Didn't panic :) just solder the point back on and try to be as gentle as possible with the rest. But all in all the wiikey is back in action :). I do hope that this will be the LAST time I have to take apart the wii for the mod chip. Thanks again for your input.
