Guitar Hero II won't boot after install of flip top

Hi all,

Just installed a flip top on v3 PS2. Tried to boot my ORIGINAL Guitar Hero II disk. It starts booting, then the head seems to move to the outer part of the disc and clicks and bunch of times. Then the disc stops and so does booting.

I have booted my ORIGINAL Guitar Hero I disc and that appears to work properly. Could not make it boot with top open to see if head goes to outer part of disc though.

Swap Magic seems to boot also. But have not loaded any backed up games though.

Both discs appear to be pristine-- no scratches or smudges at all (that I can see anyway).

Also tried using both white discs that clamp on top of DVD as it spins.

Haven't tried reverting yet. I plan to put original case back to see if I can eliminate the flip top as a cause. Hope my GHII disc is not messed up.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

i have good news i experienced that problem, i installed fliptop on my ps2 no prob, then someone wanted theres done. so i took mine off and put on theres until i ordered another one. they complained taht the games didn't play, so when i looked at it there was a clicking noise it was the lens trying to move to the top but being stopped by one of the hinges of the fliptop so i recommend u take if off and break the lil plastic part that keeps ur lid open by itself if you look you can see exactly what it is that the lens it hitting, once u break that off you clear the way for the game to go to outer edge of disc and you can play. good luck
