Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to play the PSX version of Final Fantasy VII on the PSP? I'm planning to get one soon and would like to know if this is possible. Thanks.

It is possible but you need a system version 3.50 or lower (1.50 is preferable.)

If you do get a 3.50, you need to have an original copy of Lumines, which is nearly impossible to find.

Here's a guide to downgrade every version to 1.50:

http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-hacks-9/t-guidethe-ultimate-downgrader-guide-90916.html

Once you get it to 1.50, you need to upgrade to a CUSTOM firmware version, such as 3.40 OE-A or 3.51 M33. There are easy installers (winstallers as hexitnow calls them) that can help you upgrade.

Oh cool, yeh I've know about using homebrew to play games off the memory stick, but just wasn't sure if FFVII would work since it has 3 disks.

They'll work so long as you give each of the eboot's the same game save ID.

Did you make the EBOOT.PBP yourself or did you download them?

@sagam12

Under Simple Popstation Gui, there is an option to change the Game Save and Game Save ID; click on it:

After importing the ISO, make sure that both the Game Save and the Game Save ID are the same for each disc. For example:

In this case, Final Fantasy VII, make the Game Save "Final Fantasy VII" and the Game Save ID "SCUS 94163" for EACH disc. They HAVE to be the same or else it won't work.

[EDIT: I fixed the first picture.]
