I recently replaced the laser in my V12 PS2 and now some backups that were working fine before the laser burnt out don't work. I am using SM 3.6. I press x when SM 3.6 loads, and i get the red screen meaning everything is OK, but they game never loads. Games like NCAA 07 and MVP 07 will not boot anymore. Also, i have yet to get a new burn to work. I use 16x Maxwell DVD-R and burn at 8x with DVD Decrypter, and for some reason 8x to DVD Decrypter only comes out to 4x. Why won't my OLD and new backups work?
Quote:it could be that the laser is not adjusted correctly either in the voltage or the height.
That or the laser just doesn't like the media that you are using.
Well, the thing is, it will simply read some and some it will not. I couldn't see it being media with the old ones, as they are all on Verbatim +'s and -'s. Just select ones won't read. With the Maxells, that very well could be the case. When i do get the ps2 to read the Maxells, it will just get to the opening screen and either freeze, or it takes WAY too long to load. If it does eventually load up, it really lags and skips. All of my originals play beautifully and flawlessly, as do most of my backups, except for newly burned or select older ones.
As far as the height of the laser, this can't be adjusted in a slim V12 PS2. I have looked at EVERY video, read every thread, but there is simply no white cog to turn in my ps2. And i don't feel comfortable adjusting the voltage cogs on the bottom of the laser.
The ID on the Maxell DVDs i'm using is ProDiscF02. According to DVD Identifier, it is indeed not a Maxell, but a Prodisc brand disc. I am beginning to question the quality of this media now, seeing as i do not have REAL good quality Maxell's like i had originally thought. Is Prodisc any good, or bottom of the barrel fake stuff?
