Here's a quick guide I wrote a long time ago. We really need to get a stickied topic about this. It's the fourth post.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/532888

If you already have the iso you can skip the first five steps.

to iwlyfae, all you really need to di if it was dl'ed is put the Eboot + Keys in a folder and put that folder into the GAME Folder (if using kernel 1.50 mode) or put it in GAME340 Folder (if using 3.40 Kernel mode).

If that doesnt work then in ur recovery, use the settings of Skip SCE Logo to Disable and autorun program to disabled. if it still doesnt start up right, the only other thing i can think of is you are probably using a custom theme package and that is conflicting with some of the necessary (original) files in ur flash0. That was my prob, when i started playing FF7 (dl'ed also from the net) it worked perfectly until i put my own theme+icons on my psp, it just stopped loading up, it would freeze then shut off. After i went back to the original theme (3.40oea) my FF7 started working again.

As for Blader, nero will create iso's but i use alcohol120% but i havent attempted to port my games over yet (still playin FF7) but when i do i might be able to give more helpful advise than what i could give ya now.

I beleive you could get a trial version of it for 30 days, its my favorite iso busting app i ever bought (well worth the money if u back up alot of stuff). But back to the subject, i would try to get ur original 3.40oea theme/icons back onto ur psp, i know it may sound like a pain but well worth a shot, but up to you if you dont wanna flash ur PSP that much, but as much as i miss my psp theme (the one with the skeleton in the background with the red waves), id rather be playin my FF than seeing my customed PSP

It shouldn't take very long at all; mine usually take about five to ten minutes on a computer with a slow processor.

I have a similar problem, one thats not exactly related but also not worth starting a new thread for. When i try to load my psx games on my psp (using the popstation method with hotshots 2 as a base and 3.o3eb) i get the warning, it freezes and restarts. I have no problem running Gpsp and other eumlators. Ive tried putting the Vagrant story folder in game and game150. the folders contain the eboot which i made using the pop method and the keys.bin file. on further experimentation i put in the data file as well. Nothing will work, anyone have any ideas?

try it with this.. it's a tutotial I wrote while very intoxicated, but I've never had a problem... if you continue to have problems.. pm me on here and I'll try to help.. Finding autopopstation should be easy, and it contains a program to take ur psx games and make iso's as well as adding manuals changing the game icons ect. Also does not need keys.bin...

Sry took so long to reply, been trying to fix my friends semi-bricked psp for the last 2 days, got everythin running cept iso's.

Back to the subject, about the alcohol 120%, it doesn't take long at all to convert it, the only time it slows down is when the cd has fingerprints or scrathes. Also, make sure that you DO NOT SKIP read errors, if its stops at a percentage for a long time, that means that there may be a deep scratch on it or fingerprints.

You also said that it shows the PS1 splash then crashes huh, by a wild guess, you may have had a scrath near the beginning of the CD (maybe the 8% mark :P , so when it reads the beginnning of the disk, its probably trying to load the intro but if the CD was ripped and it missed some data from a scratch, then itll be a corrupt sector, and when the Game loads it it crashes because its looking for the data thats already corrupted, that might not be the case but thats my 2 cent.

I had to use Alcohol 120% twice for my first PS1 rip (Which was Transformers Beast Wars) because i didnt look at the CD to see how dirty it was the first time and got MAD read errors (covered in a crap load of fingerprints) and had to leave it on all night, woke up this mornin and POP'ed it, put it on my PSP, Well the intro and sound was running great, but when I press enter to goto the main menu it started to load and about the 80% loading mark, it froze :( so i did trial and error, so i took the PS1 game outta my drive (thats when i noticed it was dirty as crap) and cleaned it up. I put it back in the drive and used Alcohol 120%, and it ripped it in about 12-15 minutes with maybe 7 read errors on it, POP'ed that image, put it on the PSP and game runs flawlessly. So check how dirty your disc is b4 ripping it :)

A XenigmaX said, it takes about 10 mins (tested on a PII 333 processor at that)

Also you said it was in the 3.40 kernel mode huh? just for the hell of it, switch to 1.50 kernel mode and put it inside your 'GAME' folder, if that doesnt work try 'GAME150) folder, also is the setting for 'Use No-UMD' Disabled in your recovery mode??

I recently learned that if you have custom "opening_plugin.rco" that you will not be able to play PSX games on the PSP. If you have this, then it won't work unless you disable or get rid of it.

have you tried to rip a different game yet (preferably with no scratches), that way you can see if it was just the game?

And it is essential that you do NOT skip the read errors, thats basically leaving files out when you skip read errors.
