Wow there is allot of chat about "BRICKS" and many tied to post mod systems. I got lost reading them. So the correct anti brick procedure is to?
Seems to me you should NOT USE Nitendo's Connect24 update but use the Modchip manufactures update matching your region? I love the mod idea but before I dive in I would like to be sure how to use it properly.

That answer is the furthest from the correct answer.

The correct answer to your question has been sticked and is in big BOLD letters.

The easiest way to be informed of the Do's and Dont's of having your Wii modded is to use all the past threads that have been created at this forum. You don't even have to start a new thread.

More then likley if you have a question it has already been asked and answered in a past thread. So use the forum to gain as much as you can before diving into a Modded Wii.

Sorry I see the {Sticky now} Looks like I was so afraid of being flamed for asking a question for the XXX time that during my search I overlooked the obvious. To kill these threads look at the top of the forum and there is the answer. So to finalize my Q/A Before inserting any new game into your system. Run the system upgrade to prevent the Wii brick. Or read above post.

To add a thought. Can a person without a mod chip still brick their system? So if a person only plays legal copies of their own games that no worries? Or at the most your friends?

Is it to late if you insert a disk that is going to potentially brick you system? Or dose the system ask you to YES or NO before the update starts to proceed?

I have never come across a YES/NO option on an update that came with a game disc. You will be prompt that an update is going to be installed but the only option you have is OK that you need to click to accept the update.

Most will just turn off the Wii and not click OK to accept the update.

With both of though answers. If for some reasons you had inserted a potential brick game. DO not select OK or YES. Just eject game and reset Wii to prevent the BRICK.

Not in the wrong-just wanted to be sure there was a way out after inserting a potential BRICK Game befor the damage was done.

Theres always a chance that your system will brick when doing any firmware update. Tho a brick issue as described above is a rare thing. In this case more then likley Nintendo would fix or replace your Wii system.

The main concern Wii owners need to have is for Modded Wii systems and bricking it do to cross flashing region firmware.

I guessing with out the mod chip the system would not even try to flash to a different region. Maybe just error with UNREADABLE DISK or WRONG REGION CODE
