It says on the swap magic case that you can launch program from memory card or usb device. I have a ps2 memory card and a USb flash drive. I assume by program they mean the actual swap magic program, let me know if its possible to do what i'm asking.

Thanks

Well yes and no.

An .elf file is to the PS2 like an .exe file is to a PC. It is an executable program that can be ran on the machine.

By what they say on the swap magic case they mean you can run an .elf file from mem card or usb. You can find the swapmagic.elf, but you would have to load it from the swapmagic disc first then the mem card or usb. So this would be redundant.

This would be good for you to run other .elf files. Look around I'm sure you can find something you would like to try. One place to start is sksapps.com and exploitstation.com there are quite a few elf files at those two sites.

If you make a folder on the USB drive called "SWAPMAGIC" and put the .elf into the folder, then rename the .elf "SWAPMAGIC.elf" it will load the .elf. All you would have to do is make Swap Magic boot a program that will let you run other .elf's on the USB drive.

I think what he wanted is to be able to load SM from USB or mem card period. Without anything else. This can not be done.

At the very least you would need a mem card exploit and a PS1 game. Which still involves loading a disc to boot with. If I got his original question right he wants to eliminate the disc and just load SM from USB or mem card. As I said before not possible.

There is no way to boot an elf file from mem card or USB without some kind of mod to your console. Mem card exploit, mod chip, or swap magic disc. If you are interested in a mem card exploit then goto exploitstation.com there you will find all the info needed.
