Hey guys I'm on my 8th xbox and it just broke down. Most of my summer vacation I haven't been able to play any games. I still have one month left though. Last time it took them 25 days to get my console back to me. I just don't want to go though another repair. Is there any way I can take my xbox 360 to a walmart or something and get it replaced.

If my 8th Xbox 360 died, I'd say to hell with it and buy a PS3 or stay playing PS2 for a while.

Well my PS2 is old now. It was a launch one, and after letting my cousins and friends borrow it its in no shape to play games anymore. I would get a PS3 but the thing is I don't like metal gear and I actually want to play some good games. I love the 360 it just has so many great games.

box it up take to one and tell them you lost the recipt if it works fine if not go a lil father down the road to the next wal mart and try again, it just depends on who is working also try this, after the say no at the service desk ask to speak to a mngr, when they come to you tell them what a damn shame it is to spend your money ther and cant get service. it will almost work every time, the reason is, management loves to make assosiates look stupid.
no realy mngrs have more authority than low end assosiates.

8th xbox...
what are you doing to the system?
i mean i could believe 3 or 4 is hardware problems but 8 kind of sounds like a user issue.

While the 2 of you ASSUME it is user error I have a hard time pointing the finger at ANY consumer when MS themselves are ultimately to blame

Quote:
Microsoft has ADMITTED that every one of the 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles sold in the past 19 months suffers from a design flaw that could cause the device to fail.

The firm will extend the warranty coverage from one to three years to compensate consumers, but does not plan to instate a recall or exchange programme.

Yes I'm sure I'm blocking the airflow because it's on a table that is open on all sides with the AC vent right above it. BTW half the time the problem has been the DVD drive.

EDIT: Hey fudpucker, I called them up and they said something about checking the serial #. You think they will or not? I am very tempted to do just that and go to walmart.

About the overheating thing? I was being sarcastic, what I meant was in a place like the the 360 couldn't possibly have overheated.

I know that some things, the serial number is in the computers. For instance, my parents bought a RCA dvd burner, and when walmart scanned the code, it even told them the date of purchase. Still, worth a try, the worst they can do is tell you no I believe. Or you could try to get microsoft to do an advanced thing, have them send you a new one, you send the other back.

I am just currently trying to find out, and i am sure it is already answered in the forums, so I am doing a search is, what happens if you mod the xbox and get the red ring of death.

Walmart will only replace the Xbox if its bought through them.. They scan the serial Number and it will tell them exactly what store it was bought at.

OK but that wont help. I still need a new case. Or are you saying that I buy one from walmart and then change it out. If I do that will I get my money back or store credit when I return it.

yea put the new case from walmart on your old xbox and the old case on the new xbox....
and then take the old xbox back to walmart(which has the new case so when scanned it still has the same serial number)

Yeah, but if it doesn't work it it would be embarrassing. When I head out to the Mosque tonight I'll just leave a little early for a quick trip to Walmart. I like the suggestion about switching out xboxes. I hope this doesn't hurt Walmart financially though. I mean they will just return it to Microsoft right? In that case its costs Microsoft the same.

Warranty stick?
EDIT: Oh and the Walmart didn't have the premium in stock. A guy tried to convince me to buy the elite "because (pause) it comes (pause) with (pause) everything (pause) you need (pause) to play (pause) your (pause) xbox."

so when you return your broken one with the new case with the serial number do you get your money back or do they exchange it??? If they give you your money back thats brilliant, I gotta tell my friend about this.

and salamuliakum abuzar1!

Lower your flags and march straight back to England, stopping at every home to beg forgiveness for a hundred years of theft, rape, and murder. Do this and your men shall live. Do it not, and every one of you will die today.

Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!
