Anyone know how I check the WiiKit firmware version
how I update if needed and where I get the update from

Its a UK PAL version mod.

You can actually use the Wiikey Setup disc v1.2 (Universal) update off the Wiikey website. (I know this is a WIIKIT but the Wiikey firmware is compatible with the WIIKIT)

Since you have a PAL region you will download the "Setup disc v1.2 (Universal PAL/USA/JAP - see readme)" file.

Once you have downloaded it you will need to extract it and use the "BootableDisc_PAL.bat" file to create the PAL setup disc to use with your WIIKIT. Once you run the "BootableDisc_PAL.bat" it will create a ISO that you burn to media and then run in the Wii.
