Ok, I use ulanuchelf to boot a patched version of HDLoader 0.8b designed to work with God of War 2.
So far, everything was working perfectly, even dual-layer games appeared to be recognized ok, appearing as 6-8 gigs. I tried Xenosaga and was able to start a new game as well as load a save from near the end and beat the last boss/watch the ending.
So, I have a ton of PS2 games, all of them except for four installed ok, Contra, Demolition Girl, Guilty Gear X, Katamari Damacy, these four games gave me Disk Read errors when I tried.
So, after all my other games were installed, I plugged my HDD into a USB enclosure (My system is OLD, the motherboard cannot support a drive over 120 gigs, and I didnt want to use the IDE card as that thing isnt very stable) and start WinHIIP, it sees the USB drive as a PS2 HDD, and on selecting it it scans it then says it made repairs (I really don't like the fact that it automatically made modifications to the drive without my permission). Anyway, I install Contra, Demolition Girl and Katamari Damacy, then plug the drive back into my PS2.
Now HDloader just locks up at the splash screen, and I can see the HDD access light stay on, it dosent blink or flicker.
Why is it locking up now? Did it corrupt the config file/game list file? Is there any way I can get the file repaired or recreated?
I have a TON of games on it, and it took me days to install them all, I would seriously prefer a method that does not involve reformatting the drive and reinstalling the games over again.
maybe uninstall those 3 games then see if it works again. If it does. Install a game 1 by 1 and check if it freezes, then you will know if 1 of the games are doing it. If not, dont really know what else it could be.
