Question: How to backup GOW2 Orginal disc

Hi, I have an orginal GOW2 disc and my PS2 has mod chip that reads backup D9. I have tried to backup the disc but failed, after that, I read several threads about how to backup. Here is my brief idea, please correct me if I am wrong, thanks!!

1) Make the ISO using DVD Decrepter
2) Burn the .MDS using Nero/Alchol 120%, by changing the book type into DVD-ROM, select the lowest speed, of course write into a blank D9
3) Try to run the disc in my PS2

I'm not sure but I remember reading that you would have to us toxic patch before burning the iso. Do a search for it and I'm sure you'll find it.
