I bought a v4 PS2 with a fliptop off eBay, but the person installed it wrong. The part where the disc goes in (disc drive? Whatever) is sticking out a little, so I can't put the disc in and it won't read any of my games (it'll start, but it always gives "Disc Read Error") Is there a way to reinstall it without having to totally take it apart and reinstall it from scratch?
im not sure about thay: however i will say i just purchased a top case flip cover and swap magic 3.8 for my older style ps2. my problem was that the case which was bought form one of the largest providers for swap magic online, sent me a case that had all the screw holes off from thier targets, and the case didn't fit correctly... it was nothing like the one on thier video of showing the guy switching cases and startign a game up in 3 minutes. it took me 3 hours... and i've taken my ps2 apart many times.. so that wasn't a problem. this ebay user might have had problem getting the case on correctly, so i would take it apart and try to get it to fit better. i had to lossen 2 screws on mine: 1. so i could use my power button 2. so i could open my disc tray. I also had to switch the 2 screws on the inside of the flip cover to hold the maget that holds the game in tray firmly, because it was too high up from the disc and not holding it in place. also on their video they had the memorycard slots on the case when, i had to remove mine and figure out how to put them on myself, and the groves were off, so i had to monkey with it to get it to hold right. i guess you will just have to do what you need with yours.
it sounds to me that the cd tray is not pushed in all the way. i would suggest taken it off and putting it back in yourself. its pretty easy to do. if you remove the top there are two little screws on each side of the cd tray tht keeps it to the mechanism take off two and u should be able to lift it up and push it back so it goes all the way in.
and the easiest way to get a flip top is to have the 8 screw or 10 screw be sure that you have to right one sent to you all the ones i have fit w.o a problem if you have ne other questions feel free to let me know
I already have a flip top installed, and it looks like I just need to readjust the disk tray (I made a mistake: it has 10 screws, not 8, so it's v3) but I'm having a silly problem: I don't have the right size screwdriver for the screws, I think. What size are they?
