Been following this post and tried as many hints as possible but my problem remains.
I'm trying to crop out trailers and scenes from a DVD-9 disk after decrypting it via DVD Decrytper 3.16 and encoding via Instant CD/DVD Copy but my scene checker (Vobrator 2b) keeps crshing and IFOEdit 0.96 won't let me edit any VOB ID numbers other than video_ts.ifo without crashing. It won't handle vob files that end in "1" like vts_03_01.vob. Tried ChopperXP 2.7 recently. It will let me view the vob files for scenes that I wanna crop but it also comes crashing when I try to edit the vob file. My system is an 800 mhz system running on Win XP Pro with SP1. Any ideas on how to fix my problem or recommendation of better & more stable tools?

One simple answer - get DVD Shrink latest. You don't need to use Decrypter with it. You can crop out the menu and scenes.

Just tried that discmania. The good news is that DVD Shrink did let me find out my unwanted scenes and authomatically compress my DVD-9 video. The bad thing is that it didn't preserve the other extras that I wanted retained so the dvd fast forwarded to the main movies itself when played. Is that what it was supposed to do? On another note what do you do with dvds that don't have a dvd videofile in the video_ts segment? Found a navigation file and buf file but no video file. Did I read somewhere that IFOEdit can generate the correct files, ifo tables and VOB pointers in this case?

It sounds like after you extracted the unwanted scenes you then clicked on re-author? If so you shouldn't have done that. The re-author option will automatically extract all menus and extras. To retain these just click on 'backup' after you have finished deleting the unwanted scenes. It is also advisable to use 'analysis' if the compression will be more than about 10%. This will take longer to rip but produce top results. All DVD's when ripped correctly will have video compliant files including the VOB's, etc. DVD Shrink will do that for you.

You can run DVD Decrypter in IFO mode and set it to rip the movie only.

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

So discmania, you say that if I clicked on backup right after I've selected the scenes that I wanted retained, then the program will burn the required scenes? Thought I tried that and saw the unwanted scene (s) played by me. But then I might have been a whee bit tired, so I'II try that again. Thanks for speaking up Bodene but I wanted to retain some extras and nuke others.
