My source video is recorded by my Samsung DIGIMAX i6 which records video as an avi file coded as XVID Mpeg4 file at 30fps. The audio is mpeg (mp1/mp2) (0x0050) Microsoft Corporation according to Gspot.

The video clips play back fine on the timeline but when I render them using the default mpeg2 format there is no sound. If I try to use the "Same as first video clip" setting I get an error message:

Quote:
Unable to access the audio codec driver.
If I use the basic Windows Movie Maker that comes with Windows XP the audio on the exported video file is correct.

I'm guessing that Video Studio is not picking up one of Microsoft's codecs??

Seems daft that I have to revert back to the basic Windows video editing program to do the job!

I also have Womble Mpeg video Wizard which at first played the sound but did not show the video. I then uninstalled as many codecs as I thought safe with no result. I intalled a Windwows xp codec pack and this time I can

1. See the video on womble but no sound
2. See and hear using video Studio but when I render the file there is still no sound.
3. Madness

Use one of the VirtualDubs (I like the Surround version).

And convert the audio to something else. I would go with Uncompressed WAV. You can then disable the original audio, add in the WAV and re-save (Direct Stream copy). Womble should then convert the audio to whatever you need, Dolby etc. Or you could use the original in Womble, disable the audio and add the new WAV file there.
