I searched, and I couldn't find any info on flashing a hitachi 78 with ixtreme 1.2rev2.

I know it's possible, but can i do it via flashix.bat with the firmware, or do i have to do it through fwtoolbox 4? in firmware toolbox 4, it says it's incorporated ixtreme 1.2, but that it has removed the stealth seeing as the 78 and 79 "do not need it". doesn't this defeat the purpose? why dont they need it?

because if microsoft really wanted to they could ask for the data and obviously see that it isn't theirs. But don't worry so far they havent asked for the data so just flash it using the firmware toolbox method.

if thats why they removed the stealth for the 78 and 79, why is it still incorporated for the other drives?


is it possible to do it with flashix.bat though? because that seems much easier. also, which method is safer?

As stated above... you need to use Maximus FW Toolbox 4.0..

It is the safest way... don't use the FLASHIX method as this is

for other versions of Hitachi's... I have a v78 and its very simple

you need to get it into mode b w/ Slax and follow the tutorial text

file that comes w/ Toolbox and you should be able to flash it w/ no

problems....
