Hello. So recently I've been trying to work with a few .avi editors. Most of them I haven't liked and I've uninstalled. Now I have a very strange quirk in Windows Media Player. When I click 'file' and 'open', in the dropdown box of supported formats, I no longer get the 'Windows Video' options- no .wmv and no .avi. If I search for 'all media files' they still don't show up in the folders. If I search for 'all files' then they show up, and play fine. If I open a video from My Computer then Windows Media is still the default player, and it also says in the WMP options menu that it's the default player for those file types. In the dropdown box in the 'open' command, I also have one strange new file type to select:
Note that this directory no longer exists as that software (foto2avi) has been uninstalled. Maybe there's a limited number of file types the dropdown box can handle, and the .ogg search took the place of windows video? I don't use .ogg though and I'd rather be rid of it. Obviously this problem doesn't affect playback but it is an annoyance, and I really hate unexplained changes in my software. Sometimes I feel it's an omen of larger issues to come. Any help appreciated, I don't even know where to begin here.
