SCPH-30001 not loading New

My PS2 is an older model and it is not playing some EA games.
I recently bought the NFSC and it would not load any race. The menus would load but it woulf freeze as soon as it got to the race loading screen.

After 2 used and one new copy with the same result, I returned it and bought BLACK and with this game it freezes right after the PS2 logo and stays on an all black screen on both new copies I went through.
I have opened it, cleaned and tried adjusting the laser level both up and down and it will not play past the PS2 logo.

Another things is that it still plays other games like the new Burnout Dominator and MC3 Dub Remix. I have called EA and they say that it is the PS2 and they offer not further explination.
Please Help!
