DVD Shrink was designed to decrypt and shrink an encrypted DVD. Your copy is not encrypted, so that is prolly why it refused to cooperate.

Since the DVDxCopy disabled the CSS encryption the first time u ripped it, there is no need to rip the original or the copy. Just open the copy in *My Computer* and drag the files onto your HD, then burn them into a VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD+R like any other DVD-Video.

OR...just use the copy DVD function in Nero. I've copied a copy with it and it worked perfectly.

Not 100% positive about the +/- conversion thang, but as far as I know, the actual files should be uneffected by it. I believe the + & - formats just designate the way in which the burner writes the data, rather than changing the data.

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

There is no problem in copying between the + and - formats. It is safer to rip the Video TS folder directly to your hard drive and then drag the files into Nero and burn again. You can try the 'on the fly' copy option in Nero but it is less safe than ripping first (you might waste a disc so use an RW just in case).

i've actually had some problems with making a backup from a backup. i first ripped the original with dvdshrink and burned to dvd-r with Nero. when i tried to make a backup of my backup (during the reading stage) gave me an error... fortunately it didn't write to the disc yet. i also tried to drag the files on the backup to a folder on my hd and i got an error. then... i also tried this with discjuggler and it got farther than Nero, but still got an error. last attempt was with Alcohol 120 ripped to a temp directory and burned to a princo 1x and it works. i don't know what the problem was but it looks like Alcohol 120 fixed it.

Once you have a decypted movie, just use any disc copy utility(as long as it recognizes DVDs). For example, I use DVD xcopy xpress to back up DVDs then I can just use my Roxio easy cd /dvd creator's disc copy mode to copy it. It doesn't matter if you go from -R to +R either.
