i have a question, im planning on getting the iXtreme 1,2 or 2,3 chip (i got a hitachidvd reader)but it says that only the 1,2 chip is live secure so i was wondering if i get the 2,3 chip and make my my backup a stealth copy will i be able to play it live without getting banned?

just to point out that they are not chips, it is software that you flash on to the drive :-)
If you use 2.3 then the drive itself can be detected by M$ (doesnt matter if your game is stealth or not) where as if you use ixtreme 1.2 then the drive won't be detected.
use ixtreme if i were you.

But it says that its harder to make backups work with 1,2 because it requiers correct security sector, DMI sector, PFI sector and video partition is also requierd, i have no idea what all those things are but does that mean its harder to make backups run on my 360?
Maybe a little, but if you plan on playing on Xbox Live at all , ixtreme 1.2 is a must. PS if you buy a samsung SH-D162 dvd drive flashed with Kreon (for the PC of course) then it's automatically stealthed when using Xbox Backup Creator. I would recommend the samsung either way you go, it makes backing up your games a snap! ;)
