My wife's T1 is only about 3 years old. Without any provocation that I am aware of, I'm having an exposure problem. It is especially noticable in bright light. It overexposes badly. If the flash is set for optional, it still flashes despite more than sufficient light. If I disable the flash, the picture still over exposes. Indoors the problem is not as noticable but the pictures are still way below what I was getting.

I'm guessing that something is wrong with the exposure function and that everything appears darker than it is to the processor. That would explain the overexposure for all pictures plus the flash firing when not really needed.

If anyone had a similar experience I would appreciate your input, especially if you found a way to adjust the camera.

Sony wants a flat $178 to repair it so I would guess that I'd be better off with a new camera. My wife is a bit of an Edith Bunker with cameras, so I would need a large LCD as well as a simple point and shoot protocol. It would be nice to have some manual overrides as I will use it from time to time.

Many thanks.

hi Vlad, my DSC-T1 has exactly the same problem as yours. It is also about 3 years old. The image appears ok on LCD when a picture is being taken, but it gives an over exposure result, Now I think Sony products are not dependable at all. How did you fix it? Thanks. heehee

I now use the camera for battery charging only as my brother-in-law gave me his T-1 as he had already replaced it with a newer model. Will be curious to see how long this one lasts.

I wonder if this is also due to the CCD problem that caused the mass recall? Would sony repairs this for free?
