I bought a DVD off of Ebay, but it is Region 3 and I am in the U.S. (Region 1). I've searched the forum, but found some conflicting posts.

What's the easiest way to make a copy of the DVD but changing it to Region 1 so that it plays on my regular DVD player. Keep in mind that I've NEVER copied a DVD before so I'm new to it, but very computer savvy.

I have DVD Region-Free 2.1 and DVD Decrypter 2.4. Thanks for your help.

P.S. First time posting. VERY cool forum and members :)

Use DVD Shrink version 1.0.3 to rip the main movie and tick all the boxes where the program asks which regions you want to use.Save the resulting files to a folder named VIDEO_TS.IFO in C Drive and burn with Nero 5.5.9.9. I use these programs with 100% successful backups of only the main movie, without menus or added features.Movies like Matrix Reloaded have second disk with features. You can copy all these files to another disk. Good luck.:)

Use DVD Shrink 3 beta 5 (1.0.3?? Where you got this from?? lol) and do it the way Riverman said. Or even better create a region-free disc (check the region free box)

You can of course use another burning software instead.

Thanks for the tips guys! I've downloaded both programs. What's the best way to burn the DVD with Nero? I've only used it for audio CDs. Should I use the Wizard or is there a better way. Is there a tutorial somewhere? I just don't want to make coasters out of this DVD media--it's pricey!

Nevermind, I found info here:

Thanks again though!

Riverman: Do you realise you are using an old version of Nero? I mean the latest upgrade of 5.5 is 5.5.10.54. It is advisable to get atleast 5.5.10.28 as the resulting discs are more compatible with different standalone players.

Hello Discmania, thanx,I know I'm using an older Nero version, but some later versions i have tried won't support and recognise my burner which is a Panasonic DVD-RAM MultiDrive. LF-521-PIN, only released here in Australia I believe. But I will get a Nero upgrade as you suggest and give it another go.
