Ok well, today i told my boss at work that i bought a ps3(he has a 360 so he got all mad) but then hes like wtv its chill well be able to play online later on. Im like wtf???? So he tells me that he heard on news that it might be possible for ps3 and 360 to have online play together. Has nayone ever heard of something similar? Can this be true? or is it just another myth, becasue I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

I've heard a lot of rumors about this lately. I think it would be possible, involving portals and servers.

There's always xLink Kai; it doesn't currently allow cross-platform games to be run with each other, but I think it's a definite possibility.

Its very possible. The games are the same, just different hardware and drivers but the same graphics and physics engines are involved.

From a business prospective, is Sony or Microsoft going to open they're 'live' services to each others customer base? Sure -- why not, its good business. Broadens their market base.

Will Sony gives PS3's the ability to access a service other than their own (would Microsoft for that matter)? No, not likely -- that's bad business.

So unfortunately, it will not happen any time in the near future -- but never say never. :)

I guess I can get in on this convo. But the one thing that both companies will look at is, what will they profit from making this happen. I dont think they will gain or loose any money, but someone is gonna have to fork over the cash to make it happen. it may make the online community too over crowded which may cause lagging. Its not as bad but playing someone overseas gives a little lagging. it will be hell having all xbox users and ps3 users on the same server. They probably could have made it happen a long time ago. Its just that Knowbody wants to or the idea hasent been presented enough

I understand each of your points and all, but what i thought they can do is maybe create a diffrent online meant for 360 and ps3 together, like their would be live, ps3 online, and the new online for both, that way people who would want to play exclusively with ps3 owners, without having ot go through the MS fanboys and all, would be able to and the people who would want to play between 2 diffrent ocnsoles, also would be able to. I mean this way, both companies make money because their would be a lot more buyers because how cool is that lol and they would lose anything because they would keep their original consumers. Now for the cost, i don't think osmething like this woulod be to costly for them considering the games are the same. What they should do, even though they are rivals, split the cost somehow. I'm sure that this online feature would be very successful

The only game I know that is multi platform online is final fantasy 11 xbox users connect to pc and ps2 users but thats probably because its a paid service that really isnt tied to xbox live

Yes I agree. Plus the systems have some clear differences between them both so it would be hard.
