When I try to load a backed-up PS2 game in my modded PS2 I almost always get a message that says, "please enter format PS1 or PS2 disk". it worked fine until recently i started to get the "please enter format PS1 or PS2 disk" and now all i ever get is this it will play movies but not games :( What's wrong?

could be the modchip
could be the laser is burning out or needs adjustment
could be that the laser is just dirty and needs to be cleaned
could be that if you have a modchip it has different modes for DVD movies then it does DVD games and now it is in DVD movie mode.

i tried adjusting & cleaned the laser but its no use.
i think the laser is burning out, my friend said the same thing.
how can i fix this ?

if your laser is dying, you got to buy a new laser and install it (very troublesome) or just get a new ps2
