just wanting to get some info, before i go buying new parts.
have had my xbox over 12 months (therefore no warranty) and when i put in a game or dvd, i get the message "please put this disk in an x360 console to play" am i right in thinking a new laser would sort this out, or may i need a whole new drive!! i have a samsung drive if that helps...

did u mod it? if so try reflashing original firmware.

if u modded it and it doesn't reflash you will prolly have to get a entire new drive.

or else if its not modded u can just get a new laser.

and if u modded it u can try a new laser if reflashing still won't get it to read. but if it doesn't reflash at all just get a new drive. ull need the key of the drive though. which is found in its original firmware.
