im trying to get rival schools to work on my psp...im going krazyyy... i did evrything right i believe... im on 3.40oe-a... i got rival.... i got a bin and a cue file... opened up Drpop.. threw the bin file into drpop... pushed GO... got my eboot and keys... put the the eboot in a folder i made called rival schools.. and rival schools in the game folder... launched it up... and it doesnt do anything excpet show my backround and waves.... no icons.. or no gameboot.. or no error... just my waves move an dbackround stays.. i even through the eboot on psx2psp.exe.. and put all the information in to create my backround image and icon image along with it.... got my eboot.. tried that.. and same thyng...
------------------------------------------------------------
alright.. im still still here 6 in the morning... and i read up a little bit more.. still the same thing.. i changed back to my original gameboot... i changed the opening plugin to original again.. and im not using a custom topmenu_plugin... i tried what somebody else said... that when you create a folder inside the game folder... use the SLUS-xxxxx as the name of the file you throw the keys and eboot file in... still nothing.. i think im finally givin up until i get some good help and a reasonable answer.. thanks for looking and hope you can help out... maybe its just the rival schools backup??? it did not say psx-psp... just psx... im going to try resident evil and ergheiz too.
--------------------------------------------------------------
sorry i am writing ALOTTTTT... but im discovered a new problem... ever since i read that the opening pluigin and custom xmb should be original for ps1 games to work.. i put back the original... so i put back the original and thats when it started when there was no opening plugin at all... it just starts me up to the xmb after a black screen...i kinda like it cause its faster.. but NO i want it to be straightened out... i even threw back on my xbox360 opening_plugin and nope... still the same.. black and then to xmb... even if i restart it.. or turn off and then power up... BLACK & then TO XMB.. im sorry a lot of problems encountered that i cant fix.. semi brickin again was a pain and i thought i was screwed.. no obviously i want to leave it to someone with knowledge to help me out.. please do so if you got anything to these problems.. sorry again for a lot of reading.. i really am.. thanks in advanceee

You put just the EBOOT in the folder? The KEYS.BIN is supposed to go in there with it; I think you probably just left out the detail that you did because that doesn't sound like what is going on.
The solution for fixing PSX games is similar to fixing ISOs. The first thing you should do is go into recovery mode; go to configuration and turn off no-UMD mode and try again.
If that doesn't work, keep no-umd disabled and then go to (in the recovery menu) advanced->advanced configuration. Disable everything in here and try again.
If that doesn't work, keep everything in the advanced config folder disabled and enable no-UMD mode and; again, try to run your game.
If that doesn't work, rip another EBOOT.PBP and give it the Game ID "SLUS-00681"--trying all the steps that you performed above.
If it still doesn't work after all of this; then either your .BIN file is bad or, most likely, 3.40 OE-A doesn't support the game.

alright.. im going to try all the options that nigma gave me.. and give it a shot.. is that dont work.. im going to give LOL station a shot... and i was wondering.. how is that possible that 3.40 custom firmware cant support the game?? it should support all ps1 games unless its corrupted or not in ntsc format.. .. and also i read in a thread that 3.40oe-a users dont need the keys.bin file in their... althoguh i tried both and the smae thing happens.. im going to try to do somethin.. and ill reply back........
----------------------------------------------------
IT DOESNT HAVE TO SAY PS1-PSP right?? it can just be a regular ps1 torrent?
------------------------------------------------------------
seems like im gettin everything right for resident evil nemesis except when i launch it...... it says....................
the copyright protection information is invalid..... who knows what this problem is?? thanks in advance

I haven't been homebrewing long so forgive me if this doesn't help. I'm currently running 3.52 m33, irshell 3.6?, with PS GUI 2.21 beta (PopStation) and so far I've little difficulty getting my psx games to run. The naming conventions I use don't seem to be that important except that you shouldn't use anything but alphanumerical characters (A-z, 0-9, spaces are fine)
I create the eboot, key files using popstation, then place those files in: psp -> game -> [Game name (without brackets) folder] -> Eboot\key
I don't rename the eboot or key files and my psp recognizes the game by the name I gave the folder. Only thing I don't know is how to use the L2 and R2 buttons. Anybody?

well.. it took me about a day or 2 to figure it out.. its all depending on what the message is giving you.. if its saying.. the cannot be started... its mos tlikely theres no umd in the drive.. or recovery settings need to be changed..my message was that "the copyright protection information is invalid" i think it had to do something with the custom themes... because when i switched to m33.. everything freshened up and it loaded up perfectly... i was thinking ti was the eboots not compatible with my firmware... but they do say 3.40oe-a is good for ps1 games too... all you have to do is download the game... extract the file.. you get a bin and a cue file most of the time... put the bin file in a program called drPop... and let it finish up to it can convert it to an eboot.. it will also get you a keys.bin file to throw in the GAME folder... if drpop doesnt work well... popstations work well, also if the downloaded game came in an MDF file.. if the donwloaded game came already in a file, then PSP folder, then GAME folder, then the folder with the numbers
[ex.] slus-23894 ... then you throw that folder in the game folder.. if you do th work yourself and get the eboot and keys.bin file.. you make a folder with any name... put the eboot and keys files in the that folder... then the folder you NAMED .. put that in the game folder... make sure custom themes arent preventing you from playing ps1 games.. it was a lot easier than i thought.. get back to me if you need help with anything else... oh yeah.. and they got that prgram called LOLstation.. that lets you play ps1 games without cusotm themes interfering.. it flashes 2 files to the resource and makes ps1 ames compatible.. but im guessing 70% of the time its not needed... only if worst comes to worst.. give it a shot.

In regards to 3.40 OE-A, POPStation, and custom XMB's; it is a known that with a custom XMB PS1 games will not work. There is a patch for this but since your at 3.51 M33 and its working for you who cares right? :)

PEA... are you saying that ps1 games will not work if you customize any part of the xmb?? .. the only thing i believe that makes ps1 games not work is the openingplugin.rco and gameboot.pmf

I'm not sure of the specifics of it. But I do know that having a custom top menu plugin could do it. But again there is a fix for it so you can have a custom XMB and play PS1 games on 3.40 OE-A. Read about it and download the fix here.

thats what they say...although.. no need..autopopstation 4 is too new.. they say to stick with the earlier versions.. i say just stick with DrPOP for converting bin files to eboots.. and popstations for eboots as well but it mostly was good for converting mdf files to eboots... and then psx2psp if you want to modify the eboot.. icons and backrounds and music wise...

I use Zinga Burga's POPStation, it creates all the needed files and doesn't need the Hot Shots 2 files. You can download it from here, and heres a description from the site...
Quote: his program allows you to convert your PS1 games to a PSP compatible format (a GUI for popstation). Also, there are MANY other features, including (but not limited to):
PSX images and EBOOTs are FULLY customizable - from gameboot/warning picture customization to changing Game Save names
EBOOT patching is quite fast - no more PSP Brew
Conversion with a progress bar! (note, no progress bar when creating compressed EBOOTs)
Supports CUE and MDF, as well as standard popstation supported files (currently, no other popstation GUI does this)
Extract ISO from EBOOT - includes compressed EBOOTs and will also extract a CCD file
I've tried to make it easy to use Also it's more visually appealing
ALL files are included - no more searching for elusive KEYS.BIN or BASE.PBP files
MANY other features - such as a Preview feature, EBOOT add/delete/extracting etc etc - see screenshot

@zarif123
Heres a little guide I have made and posted on a few other threads. It will walk you through the process of taking a PS1 game and making a EBOOT out of it. It uses all free software so you should be set.
My reply to gahau...
To play the game in the Game folder make a folder with the name of the game and place the EBOOT.PBP in there along with the other file which should be a file named KEYS.BIN or something similar.
To convert from an original PS1 game to a PS1 EBOOT for the PSP you need a few tools. A tool to rip the original game disc to a image file, and the tool must be able to compensate/bypass any copy protections on the game disc. For this the easiest program is DVD Decrypter. I do not believe I can link to it but it is widely available on the net. On the other hand there is the free version of Alcohol 120%, it is Alcohol 52%. Heres a bit of info on what Alcohol 120% and Alcohol 52% can do...
Quote: Alcohol 120%, is a powerful Windows application that makes it easy to create backups of DVDs* and CDs. In addition, the program lets you store your most used CDs as images on your computer, so you can call them up at the click of a button.
The only difference between Alcohol 120% and 52% is that with Alcohol 120% you can also burn the discs and there is no free version of Alcohol 120%. So for our purposes the free version of Alcohol 52% will do just fine. You can download it here.
If using DVD Decrypter under "MODE" set the "ISO" function to "READ", let it do its thing and when your done you will have a good ISO for transferring to EBOOT. If you choose to use Alcohol 52% chose to make a "Disc Image", follow the onscreen prompts and you should be set. Also when it asks you to select a DRM/Datatype do not select any type.
After you have the image created you need to convert it to a EBOOT.PBP file. The simplest and in my opinion best way to do this is via Zinga Burga's POPStation PSP-to-EBOOT program. It has everything you need to convert games to play on the PSP. You can download it here. There are some more advanced options in the program and I won't go into detail about those. But it is as basically as simple as selecting the image file Alcohol 52% created and hitting start. After it has converted it put it in a folder of its one within the Game folder on your PSP. So if the game was Final Fantasy Tactics my folders would look like this. (note "X" is my memory stick)
X>PSP>GAME>Final Fantasy Tactics>(put files in this folder)

No problem. Sorry if that "guide" was a little amateurish, I was short on time and just copied and pasted it from the text document I saved. So if you didn't quite grasp all the concepts, or need clarification on certain parts of it let me know; I would be more than willing to help you out.
