Putting a computer hd in a ps2 (fat)

OK im a total noob when it comes to the ps2 modding and ect

im wondering if its possable to use ANY computer hd with out the os installed so a total bank Hd and install it in a Fat PS2?
if so i was also wondering How it would be installed i havent found any cables of 'ribbons' in the exp bay to plug it in to

Also i have Valkyrie Profile (psx) on my computer can i upload it to the hd and play it on the ps2 or will i need a mod chip after burning it
if your wondering the hd is a MAXTOR 40gb just a standered pc hard drive
if it works can i get a semi detailed way to install it/

one again im a supernooblet when it comes to things like this
