My friend lately is having problems 60% of the time with original not scratched dvd's being read in his necdvd drives. He has all the usual software (any dvd, clone dvd, dvd fab plat, shrink ect) and his drives are pretty new.
I'm pretty sure the problem started when he had any dvd running with fab plat. but I'm not 100%. I know his original discs are good cause they backed up with no problem on my computer for him!
Things I've tried: updated firmware, uninstalled driver/installed
As long as AnyDVD is turned off, it shouldn't effect DVDFab and vice versa. That shouldn't be an issue. I have those and a lot of other programing and they reside without conflict as long as they're used properly.
The DVDs you're saying are problems, do they play in the player software on the PC? PowerDVD, WinDVD 8, Nero ShowTime or a similar program for playing DVD videos on the PC should be used if one isn't already installed. An old standby is playing a DVD to have the PC recognize it and then switch to the recording software. But back to what I was getting at. If the DVD plays and doesn't want to go into the recording mode, then your friend may have managed to corrupt the recording software. There you delete, clean up, and do a fresh installation. Sometimes reinstalling software is an easy fix when considering the time it takes to troubleshoot and repair problems. Just a thought... Your ability to play and record the DVDs on your system indicates the failure is with the friends system and not the DVDs. I haven't seen a drive selectively read some factory DVDs and not others, especially with a 60% failure rate.
The programs you mentioned aren't very big, so I'd delete the programs in question and do the clean up and reinstall fresh. That is unless someone has a better idea. Don't forget the question I asked above.
