New to flashing psp rom, please help

I am currently running v2.60 firmware on my psp and would like to upgrade to 3.40 oe-a. As i understand i must have either one of darkalex's oe-a or oe-b or 1.50 firmwire installed for it to work porperly.
I downloaded 3.02 oa-a and it says it requires 2.71 or 1.50, i have 2.60, is there a way i can upgrade to 2.71 so i can start my path towards 3.40 oe-a ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You would first need to upgrade your psp to official 2.71-which can be found HERE
Then you would need to determine what type of motherboard you have-Look on the first page of this forum-its stickied- something like "motherload of psp guides" scroll about halfway down and compare yours to the one in the picture...The reason for this is that the downgraders are different depending on your motherboard..If you have a TA-082,(IC1003) you would have to use the correct downgrader for that motherboard...The downgraders and guides can be found HERE Use the one that corresponds with your motherboard...If yours is not a TA-082, then you can use the "generic" downgrader just below the TA-082/86 on that guide I posted..

I could be wrong, but aren't all PSP systems TA-082 motherboards since 2006. I believe that after 2006, they knew we where patching them way too easily and had to change the mobo. If you bought your PSP brand new within the last 6 months, you can almost garentee its TA-082
|

I just included that because he said he was starting with 2.60 firmware, which is what my psp had originally, and mine does not have a TA-082 motherboard...Just want to make sure so no uneeded bricks occur..

Well done..Now its time to downgrade- have a look HERE ..scroll down to 2.71, and click "show"-it will have the files you need, as well as a guide to walk you through the process...
Once you downgrade, you can use THIS to install your 3.40OE-A

Just fyi I downgraded to 1.5 without a hitch,now it's time to try to get 3.40 on, great guide btw, thanks

nevermind, i assume my question can't be answered in this forum, I do have a legit question though, my brothers psp is v 3.52 , is it possible to put 3.40 oe-a on it?

Sorry friend, your brother will have to borrow your PSP I guess, his cannot be downgraded...As far as where to find your "backup" games...Might I recommend these?

Its ok to post links to sites that may or may not contain questionable materials, you just cannot post a link to a direct file..for example: www.psph4xX0r.com/pir4tedg4mez/pspg4mez.rar
You just need a torrent client such as uTorrent to handle your downloading needs...Now go out there and get yourself some games, ya pirate!

I suggest that your brother trade his in and hopes that he gets a 3.50 or lower. He is stuck until someone has made a downgrader for that. And his mobo doesnt matter anymore because they have a downgrader that patches the files that make downgrading inaccesable (whoa you can tell its summer)

Oh thankyou! Finally someone actually understands the forum rules for what they are! I kind of find it annoying with everyone constantly saying they can't tell people torrent sites, when it clearly says you can:
