I have read through many pages on this topic, so forgive me if it's been asked before.. I get a DNAS error 402 when trying to play MLB 07 The Show (original disc - imported) on my modded UK PS2 slimline (modbo chip).
I'm aware the DNAS error is to do with the modded console. The advice to disable the chip to play online is of no use to me, because I need the chip to boot the import game.
My question is, can I disable the chip after the game has booted through the region check? Modbo is supposed to disable itself after booting up, but it musn't or else I surely wouldn't get the DNAS error on what is a legitimate import.
Any ideas, folks?
Many thanks in advance.
Edit: Forgot to add, I only want to use the online roster updates. I do not want to actually play the game online, and I accept that may not be possible for non-US players anyway, as this was an NTSC-US-only release.
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate you taking the time to help me.
If I can counter that with another few questions. Firstly, what do you mean by link and console ID, and how would I change these.. Also, why do I need to patch a back-up of the game when I'm playing an original? I only ask because I've had a lot of trouble burning back-ups.

Thanks Again.
Link and Console ID tell the DNAS servers what kind of PS2 you have (PAL or NTSC) the DNAS servers won't let you play a NTSC backup on a PAL PS2. So you gotta change the PS2 IDs. Just BE CAREFUL. And you need to patch the DNAS ID so the game will work.
About your problems burning backups, which media do you have? what PS2 you have? what game? what modification you have?
I'm not sure exactly what model of PS2 I have, but I can find out when I finish work... All I know is that it's a PALblack slimline version.
You say the DNAS servers wont let me play a backed up NTSC game on a PAL console, but what about an original NTSC game? Would this still be the case? If I changed the console ID, so that the server thinks the PS2 is NTSC, then surely it would accept the DNAS code that's already in the game (an original import disc).
I'm using a Modbo chip, again not exactly sure which version, but I can find out.
On the topic of burning, I've been using x16 dvds, but burning them at x4 using DVD decrypter. I'm not sure if they are - or + though.
When I try the simple ISO\Read then ISO\write method, all I get is 'Disc Read Error' when I try and boot the copy... I also went through the Rebuilding method using Isobuster \ CD - DVD Generator etc.... Again, 'disc read error'.
I will provide detailed spec on all my hardware when I get home tonight... Thanks again for your time.

They won't let you play any NTSC game online. Backed up or originals.
I'm using a Modbo chip, again not exactly sure which version, but I can find out. Modbo is okay. It's kinda like swap magic, requires tedious patching to get online to work. Thank god i have Crystal Chip 2.0 SLE which auto patches games for online play (still need to change the IDs though)

I always use SonyDVD-Rs 16x burned at 2x. It does matter if it's DVD+R or DVD-R because most PS2s read -R better than +R.

What?
