What?s up guys.

So my brother dropped his PS2 (how, I don?t know), and it won?t read discs now. I told him that I would try and fix it, but I?m totally clueless. He has a v7 PS2 (I think anyways - SCPH-39001).

I opened up the disc drive and powered it up. The laser moves around and tries to adjust, but the drive won?t spin the disc more no more than literally about 5º (I?m talking very very minimal spin). It almost looks as if it?s trying to spin, but just can?t.

I wonder what could be causing this. I assumed that when he dropped it that a ribbon just got knocked out or something, but I took all of them out and reinserted them, making sure they were all secure in place. Would the drive spin at all if it was a ribbon issue? Is the drive shot? Is their a fuse that controls the motor that could be blown?

I guess what?s throwing me off is how I can visually see the drive trying to spin, but every possible explanation I can come up doesn?t sound quite right?

Any help/ideas/suggestions/whatever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys.
