Hello all. I own a PSP with 3.40OE-A, so I think I know a little about Firmware. A friend of mine used a mod chip for his to play backup copies, but I've read that flashing the Firmware is easiest and cheapest. I have a brand new XBOX 360. It's a 20GB HDD with wireless controller, etc. I don't know what the ODD is, but I know it's SATA. I just ordered this because the price dropped. I don't want to break the seal and start working on it just yet. So if anyone knows what the new standard is for the ODD, I'd like to know. Once I know that, I could begin flashing it. So, if anyone can give me a guide or a link to one an idiot can understand, I'd appreciate it.

well, there isn't really a standard ODD in 360's. they are however either hitachi brand, samsung, or ben q. they all have differnent ROM versions and are all accordingly different to flash. so in order to flash it, you're going to have to break the seal eventually, find what brand your 360's ODD is and find the ROM version

All right I did it. I cut the seal, unscrewed ... everything, lol. The ODD is a Hitachi. I see a serial number, but beyond that, I have no clue the model number. And uh, clearly I want the best custom Firmware for it. I need "stability and compatibility". I'm not afraid to jump through a few hoops to install/use the Firmware as long as I have a guide. So based on what hardware I have, what would you recommend in terms of Firmware version? I'll try not to waste your time so if you give me a Firmware + latest version I'll Google a guide.

Scroll down to the "Hitachi - Which version"... read it, then tell us which version you have.

hitachi? check out this tutorial for flashing, it is for the latest firmware, highly recommended to get the new firmware. click here

however, if you use that FW, you'll have to stealth your games, no big deal though
