couple of days ago after updating on line got the red ring of death no one can tell me why as it was fine before the update any way the seal is not there as i bought it allready modded(to play back ups)so no guarantee Now all i want to know is if i buy the 360 Elite has the R.R.O.Death problem been sorted out with this model
any advice would be helpfull

Even if it is not sorted out (which it most likely is) then you'd have a 3 year warrenty against the 3 Rings of Death. If you plan on modding an Elite 360, then make sure you get a 0078FK Hitachi drive. Look on the outside of the package for the LOT #
If it's lot# 0709 or lot# 0710 then it's a 78. All others contain the Hitachi 0079FK drive which currently is not moddable with software.

dont supose you know if its the update that kills the machine or is it coincedence that i got the red rings up after updating my secondry fault code was 0020 (not sure if this is hardware failure due to overheating or not)
