So this is what happens.. I start my xbox and at the xbox logo the actual logo has these flashing dots all over it. So it goes to the menu and these dots are not there, no problem here. However when I put FIFA 07 and these small black dots flash on a lot of graphics, (Shadows, sky, usually lighter textures). i put a dvd movie in and i see white dots in the center of the screen! However I have no idea what the problem is here. i'm not sure if i should buy a new video cable, but... what would that have to do with these dots?
The Problem started when i was watching a movie for 3 hours, then these weird white dots appeared in the screen.
My Console Never Froze.
No ERROR codes.
No 3 red lights.
i tried updating the dashboard but it didn't work.
and i can't send it to Microsoft because my console is out of warranty...

Same thing happened to me...sooner or later you are going to get a E 74 Error...and the right-bottom light will turn red. Don't mean to sound mean but start saving that 100 bucks because its going back to M$...

It is a problem with the gpu, could be overheating or something causing artifacts, or it could be the scaler chip thats screwed.

If the problem seems to be getting worse, then you could end up getting 1 red light, or 3 red lights, depending on what the problem lies in, most probably 1 red light in this case, and you wont be able to repair it yourself with ease as its a hardware defect, which means you will have to replace one of the chips to fix the problem, in your case, the gpu seems to be slipping off the edge.

You think that the X clamp Mod could fix it?

The x-clamp replacement is a good fix for the 3 red light problem, but I think that sorts the problem once the 3 rod actually takes place, installing it in advance will prevent the problem, but if your getting artifacts, I dont think this fix will work, because artifacts normally occur when there is a serious gpu problem. For example, if the gpu overheated, the stress could screw up the transistors inside it, once they are damaged, its not repairable, as there are millions of transistors in a processor, and the only way to fix the box will be to change the gpu, but thats only if that is the problem, you could do the x-clamp mod, and see if it gets rid of the artifacts, if it does, then you should be safe, but I'm not 100% sure, anyone else know whether the x-clamp will work?
The xbox 360 is just a computer, running different software, so the same logic applies, normally if your gpu in a computer overheats and gets damaged, then you start get artifacts, which are the squares that you are talking of, and once this happens, the problem repairs constant or gets worst, in which case the graphics card needs to be replaced.
