I'm in the process of adjusting the pot. The laser is brand new, although the gamecube is old. The chip is a Viper Extreme with Cobra 1.6 Bios. The burner is a brand new NEC AD-5170. And i've tried Verbatim mini DVD-R's, and some noname regular DVD+R's wich seems to be a waste of time burning on unless your looking for coasters.

I successfully made a snes emulator disc on one of the minidvd's, and it loaded every rom i tried, and it loads originals without any problems.

I've tried 140 and 170 ohms. I've managed to get the burnt backups to boot a little on both values, but then i get a "This disc cannot be read..read manual blablabla", so i guess the burns are somewhat fine since the error appears so randomly.

My questions are these:
What is the ohm range even worth trying within?

Should i start low or high?

How low can i go before i'm in serious danger of destroying the laser? (There seems to be some disagreement about this)

I've made a simple survey, so if you want you can take it here. I will post the answers here once i've reached the limit of responses (50), or after a few days.
