Hi, I have A fat ps2 version 4 and few months ago I decided to install the duo 2 modchip. It was my first time installing a modchip (I know its idiotic) After I was done installing it and screwed everything back together, there was a problem, the same problem was still ther after I uninstalled a modchip.

In standby mode, the ps2 power button would stay with red light on as normal. But when I press it to turn the ps2 on. The red light would change to green and would start to blinking repeatedly, and the the blue light on eject button will come on and stay on.

The disc tray won't come out no matter how many time I press the eject button. Tv screen is Gray color with some horizontal lines in it but nothing is coming on screen, (no picture, no audio either).

When ps2 is Turned On for the first time, the disc spins, laser moves but than stop. and disc stops. I unscrewed the dvd tray and tried to push the tray out by force since it was not moving when I pushed the eject button. It still wasn't coming out as it was stuck, after much force I was able to pull it out but it won't go back in as I tried to push it back in with my hands, seems as I move the tray back the laser and the CD hole button raised it self up so they block the tray from going it. But I manually slide it it by raising the tray a little with my hand so it will slide over the CD hole and laser area.

To me it looks like the I screwed dvd tray alignment or I have broken some tiny plastic parts in the DVD tray. Dvd actually tried to move in when I had it pulled out and pressed the power button gain to see what happens, so it mean that drive is working but something (some hardware) was blocking it.

But CD problem is fixed now, I have manually align the CD tray and put a original ps2 CD on the CD hole and closed the tray. I don't mind if it doesn't eject when I press the eject button, I'll just open the dvd dive itself to change the disc.

Here is my problem:

Now the CD spins fully and doesn't stop and keep spining. But on TV,the screen is still Grey, with some horizontal Grey line on it. I am not getting any picture on that Gray screen and no sound either.

Whats the problem. At one area everything was so tiny when I solder that I think some solder point are touching near area. Could the Gray screen caused by that?

Somebody please tell me what area of ps2 cause the Grey screen, so I would know where I need tto check. Had anybody ever hared of it before? Whats wrong. help?

Man, I am so lucky I got the Swap magic instead of solder.

Are you sure there is no short on the board? You may have done something while soldering is my guess?

Check to see if there are any remains of solder from your operation on the circuit board, and if so remove it with a wick.

I'd hate to say that the solder gun may have been too hot in some areas and screwed up the circuitry? Let's hope thats not the case, but that is one chance.

I got my modded around two years ago. I had my baby cousin smack the disk. It broke like yours and stops ejecting.

What we did

We opened the PS2 up and we got to the motor. You'll see it at the back next to the on/off switch. Its a fan. When its opened it'll have plugs inserted. Simply take it out and put it back in again. What this does is resets the drive and enables you to eject and read the disc's via chipping. I don't know if there is a risk. Its just reseting the motors.

NOTE: I cannot be held responsible for anything that happens. You will do whatever at your own risk.

Thanks

sorry for late reply, I knew that I had too much solder in some palces which was touching other point but I didn't know how to take it out. I bought desoldering braid but it didn't work.

But because my soldering gun wasn't working anymore, so I used the other on and desoldering braid took off the solder.

No it still isn't eject but I did put the disc manually and turn it on. Same as before the grren light start to flashing rpeatedly and blue light stay on, but the screen isn't grey color with some lines in it anymore. Now screen is black (mean nothing on that channel)but the sign on tv channel saying "video 1" (chanell name) starts to flicker which means some singal is coming.

No audio either.
