I have Hewlett Packard M7475 Desk top computer, I am professional photographer, Normally I creat DVD for wedding & B'day Party.
Latelly I have a problem, when I insert blank dics into dvd drive, computer will shut down automatic, Computer can not start until I pull out blank dics from the driver. Mainlly I have problem on RW dics.I used write +R ,-R, -RW & +RW. I can watch movie or used disc.
I have Liton dvd writer.
I had few problem for writing a dics, so I ask HP support team. They ask me to do following.
Control pannel--System--Hardware---Device Manager---DVD /CD Rom drive---uninstall and reinstall.
Since that day I can not write any dics.
If some one can help me.
is your computer running hot? Does it do the shutdown immediately whn you put a disc in, or after a couple minutes. Feel the back of your computer and make sure your fan is running. If it feels hotter than normal, take your cover off and give it a shot.

Computer is running fine, it is not hot, fan is working fine. I bought this computer 13 months back. Yes it is shut down immediately when I put a disc in [As soon as disc start reading].
Have you tried updating the firmware for the drive? You may unless want to have Windows uninstall it and then restart your computer so Windows will automatically reinstall it.
