re stealth files:
its an information file/string that matches the originals secirity code or flag, or circumvents it with a spoof one. The former is the safer option every time :)

im still using an old old firmware, and dont plan to update. As long as it works, dont fix it.
Been on for 6+ months now no probs.
Your best bet is to make sure ALL games are stealth patched, even if playing offline. The firmware does very little to protect you; until the powers that be can be certain exactly how it picks up and bans you its impossible to pinpoint it in any firmware to date..
Use xdvdmuleter to check your games before putting them in the drive.

The drive is fine, doesnt make too much diff when burning your backups. If your softmodding it yourself yes you will have to open it and thus voiding your warranty unless you are very very careful not to destroy the void seal.
You can find the guides to do so on here, otherwise pay someone who knows to do it :)

google it to find the video tutorial or a pdf download.
The discs are fine, but dont burn at more than 4 speed even if the disc allows, and dont opt for cheaper media, the 360 can be fussy.
