77001 with SM 3.6+ and Flip-top

I tried the search and it didn't give me the answer I was looking for.

I bought a PS2, brand new, a few days back. I bought a slim PS2 flip-top cover and a SM 3.6+ combo from gocybershop.ca. Now, in the description on their site it says it is compatible with the new 77001 PSTwo Slim, which is the one I have. So I install the flip-top, toss in the DVD version of SM and it tells me the disc cannot be read. I tried a few more times and got the same results. So I try the CD version of SM and works just fine.
I tried to put the DVD version of SM in after getting to the boot screen of the CD version, when I insert the DVD it tells me that it's an invalid PS2 disc.
Does SM 3.6+ DVD not work with the new 77001 PS2's or is my DVD version screwed up?
