Video on 360 as Media Center Extender - help!

Hi,

I want to use my Xbox 360 as a Vista Media Center Extender and from what I've seen so far, I'm really impressed.

However, I have a number of VOB files on my PC and I would like some advice on how to play them back on my 360 with 5.1 surround sound.

Is it true that 5.1 is only possible when video is encoded as WMV (with AC3)?
I know I can rename some or all of my VOB files as .MPG and they will play on the 360, but will I have 5.1 sound?

Any advice appreciated, including any free software apps, in case I need to convert my VOBs to WMV.

Well that might work, but surely Videora will convert the video for use on an iPod, so the format will not be the best quality video on a standard definition TV?

Also, my question about the 5.1 surround sound stands.

Has anyone tried this with Videora?
