I have a slim Playstation 2 and Swap Magic Coder 3.8. Every game I have made a backup of has successfully worked. About 50 Games in all. I have tried all sorts of media and they all don't work except for Memorex DVD+R. I have read that this is crappy media but my PS2 loves it. Well I ruined a good thing because I updated my driver for my Dvd+
Rw and now games I burn skip on my PS2. I'm still using Memorex media. Well some people might say my PS2 laser is crapping out. Well I thought that also but all the games I burned before I updated the driver for my Dvd+Rw work pefectly fine. So either two scenerios are left. 1. Because i updated my driver my Dvd+Rw is burning the media in some different manner than it did before and as a result my PS2 isn't able to read Memorex as well. Or Scenerio 2. I just bought a bad batch of Memorex that is a manufacturers error and I need to get my money back. Well I also burned a movie on my Memorex and my dvd player played it perfectly fine. So that rules out the possibility of buying a bad batch. I use Dvd Decrypter to back up all my games and it works fine. If anybody has a solution please let me know. P.s windows will not let me roll back my driver. I've even reformatted and reinstalled windows on my drive witch should make all the drivers the default Windows drives. But my Dvd driver is still the same. My DVD+Rw was a IDE1008-0054. Now After I used Live Update from the website it is a IDE1008-0060 and Live Update won't let me convert it back to 0054. I was thinking I might have to do a Toc refresh on my Playstation 2 but the Swap Magic website doesn't tell you how and I have been searching these forums for the past 2 days and I still don't have an answer. So I was thinking I might just have to start booting backups from an external hard drive. So here we go. Will any external hard drive work once it's been formatted to NTFS? Do I need anything extra other than USB Advance and Swap Magic Coder? Will the external hard drive connect with a standard usb cord or do you have to buy something extra? Is it even worth it? because I have been reading that the movies skip and that it takes forever for the game to load. Does the Usb need it's own power supply or does the Ps2 operate it via a usb connection? I know there are a lot of threads on these topics but none of them have a solid answer. I have been searching for 2 days. If any one has a solution to any of the above problems please help. Your feed back is greatly appreciated. I'd prefer to have my DvD backups running fine again without skipping but any solution would be a help. Thank you.
