Im having a problem backing up the Doctor Strange dvd. Ive tried running it through DvD Shrink as well as DvDFab. Whenever i run it through either I'm getting an disk read error.

Has anyone managed to back this disk up, I would appreciate knowing what you used or any advice

thanks!

Have you inspected the disc for visible scratches or dirt? Could be a bad disc too. What is the error message word for word from DVD Shrink?

The disk has no dirt or scratches that would lead me to believe that was the cause of the error.

the error on shrink is as follows: DvD Shrink has encountered an error and can not continue. Failed to read file "F:\" Data error(cyclic redundancy check)

This error means the disc is unreadable due to errors...not copy protection. If the dirt, scratches etc. aren't the cuplrit then the disc could be a bad press from the manufacturer and should be returned for a replacement.

Here is a reference thread for you: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/124000

well problem solved. The disk was spotless-brand new. I ran it through my spin doctor and as usual it made the surface look terrible, yet clean. Ran it through DefabDecryter to the hard drive than burned it with Shrink successfully.

Is it possible the disk surface was TOO polished/perfect .. i dont know .. and after 2 days of workin on this one, Im not about to waste anymore time on it.

Thanks for your advice LOCOENG!

You are very welcome.

As I said above even if there aren't visable defects there can be delamination and defects in the master press that you cannot see. These are defects from the manufacturer.
