HDLOADER - Version and Updating question

I received a pre-modded PS2 from my cousin a little while ago. I think I kind of know what's going on but since I didn't do the initial install I'm not sure.

Basically what I was wondering is how do i know what version of HDLOADER is on my harddrive and if it's an older one how does the updating process work?

Hdloader is usually run from an exploit on the memory card, or by a CD as describe here.
I believe there is also an image on the hd as on sk apps.
Just hook your hard drive up to your computer and see whats on it is the easiest way to know.
