To see if my wiikey was installed correctly I put in biohazard 4 the Japanese version of Resident Evil 4. IT didn't work, I haven't gotten the setup disc to work. Does this mean that the modchp didn't work? Just need a one word answer. Thanks.

I don't think you want a one word answer :P.
Anyways, since the game is Japanese you'll need to turn on the region override option on the Wiikey setup disc.

That's my question. I haven't gotten the wiikey setup disc to work so I'm assuming the wiikey didn't get installed right, so without me turning on region overide is it already on?

The problem with your question is...
Quote: Does this mean that the modchp didn't work? Just need a one word answer. Thanks.
We can not help you by giving just a 1 word answer.
You came for help so let us help you by getting the needed information we need.
1) what region is your Wii?
2) what firmware does your Wii have currently? (Go to Wii settings and the firmware is in the top right hand corner)

I have the same issue, my wii firmware version is 2.2u and I have used 6 different types of media ( all DVD-R) Inclu sony maxwell memorex etc. The one thing i found different is that the wiikey setup disc that i downloaded is only 1.4 GB in size (wkcfg_min.us) I do not have a gc controller so i am using the image downloaded from the wiikey website, I have read through 70 different pages of forums and I have unfortunatly not come across an answer. Any help would really be appreciated

OK so I tried the other iamges from the wiikey site which are 4.6 GB in size & they do not boot either. I am unable to get anyt burned media to work. I even bought a pioneer 112d burner since a lot of people mentioned that they had good luck with that but so far I have about 20 coasters

Hello all,
I just bought a Wii pal with a wiikey.
I have understood that i have to burn the configdisc 1.2 from Wiikey.cn.
When i introduce the dvd into the wii come a new tile "Nintendo Gamecube" and nothing else seams to change. If i click on the new tile i got an error and forced to reboot...
What went wrong ?

im no expert but i would geuss it didnt go because i dont think the wiikey mods what verifies the gamecube disc. so try burning the newest setup disc. the wii should read it as a wii disc not a gamecube disc then it'll probly work. i heard another guy say i needed gcos (a gamecube softmod) to run the old setup disc.

the new wii disc actually runs in wii mode, it's a 4gb image. i have formware.... 2.2U. i think thats what it says in settinga near the top 2.2U. THe new firmware sopposedly prevent modding but some say its just a scare tactic.

The Wiikey setup disc is ran in GC MODE that is why you need a GC controller to navigate the system. You can run a GC disc that is a 4gb image in GC mode. Thats how you boot multi-game disc.

If your at 2.2U firmware then you don't need a GCoS boot disc. This is only needed if you have updated to 3.0U firmware.
Try burning the setup disc to different media. have you even tried a backup yet?

I'm 95 percent sure my wiikey isnt intalled right. The gc setup disc doesn't work 4 backups dont work some on dvd-r some dvd+rw. both memorex discs. a jap game doesnt work. So finally i will try tomorrw to get the 4gb setup disc. I'm on a mac and you have to use a pc to do that so I'll try it tomorroe. If that doesnt work then its reinstall time.
A thread about the install. I had some1 else do it. pic included

Question and some comments:
I cannot load my original or Backup Eternal Darkness game after installing the WiiKey unless I remove my Gamecube memory cards.
Is there some corruption of the Gamecube memory?
Comments:
remember Wii iso size: 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes) use the program FIXSIZE to make it this exact size or your burns will not work!

I hear people trying to run the setup disc in GC mode, now how do you get into the GC mode? I was under the impression you just burnt the setup disc popped it in & the wii wold see it as a GC disc (if it was the GC edition you burnt) do you need to do something different to get the wii to see GC discs?
