Dms 4 and HDD and Toxic Os... HOw do i Do it?

OK i have a 160 gb seagate hard drive and when i first put it in to my ps2 my toxic os booted it and began format.. but the was just stuck on that screen of standard and Extension. for around 1 hr.. so i decided to format it on my comptuer using wiihiip and i selected toxic os standard. and when i was done i click add image and it installed.. n i click ok.. do i need to do the ppf patch? or change the mode? aniway after that i plugged it back into my ps2.. it didnt even detect a hard drive.. now im stuck.
